About The Project

I started Jamerson Analysed back in 2012 when I was studying at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music as a way of recording my work on the playing of James Jamerson. I wanted to understand the lines, as well as learn how to play them, and set about breaking down some of his basslines. By looking at his rhythmic and melodic decisions, I gained a far deeper understanding of his approach to the songs, and after a few cover videos and analysis' I decided to start sharing the blog around on various forums.

Since then the site has has thousands of visitors from all over the world, and has become a good resource for those wanting to understand Jamerson's playing.

Fast forward a few years and I now teach at BIMM Bristol, where I often have students turn to the blog as they start to explore Jamerson's playing for the first time. It is because of this that I have given the site an overhaul, and will be posting new content on a more regular basis.

To help with the work, I am inviting guest contributors to submit their own analysis' of Jamerson's playing. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved.
